The Malaysian AIDS Council website has paced a warning sign on its front page that currently, it is estimated that each day, 10 Malaysians are diagnosed as being infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, that is, a retrovirus that causes the patients to be terminally ill.

National statistics on the number of Malaysians infected with HIV is worrying although it is said that advocacy efforts have been better than the targets that had been determined in the global Milennium Development Goals (MDG) of the United Nations . MGD was drawn up in 2003 through Resolution 58/133, with the hope that its goals will be achieved by 2015.
