UNESCO University Twinning and Networking Programme (UNITWIN): UNESCO Chair on ICT in TogoAn agreement has been signed for the creation of a new UNESCO Chair for information and communication technologies (ICT) and higher education development in Western Africa at the University of Kara, Lome, Togo. UNESCO/Hewlett Packard: Brain Gain InitiativeAfter a pilot phase conducted in five universities in Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Zimbabwe, Hewlett Packard and UNESCO have widened their joint “Brain Gain Initiative” to 10 other higher education institutions in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia and Uganda. Yet, the Central Government of India has decided to grant derogation to the Jammu and Kashmir State based on the fact that it is composed of two separate regions to host two Central Universities, one in the Jammu region, the other in the Kashmir Valley.
