PENANG, July 20, 2012 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and the Penang Malays Association (PEMENANG) strengthened their cooperation through the Academic Excellence Project (PeKA) which was dedicated to the school students in the state.
Cooperation was sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between USM which was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Omar Osman, and PEMENANG, represented by its President, Dato' Seri Mohd. Yusoff Latiff.
Through this collaboration, USM will offer the services of its teaching staff as instructors to conduct tuition classes held every weekend, the cost of which will be borne by PEMENANG.
PeKA is a knowledge transfer project that will benefit students, especially at school level, to achieve excellence in their examinations through activities designed involving the participation of lecturers and prospective teachers from the School of Educational Studies, USM.
The MoA signing ceremony was witnessed by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, T.Y.T. Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Abdul Rahman Abbas and the Minister in the Prime Minister Department, Tan Sri Dato' Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
