WORK WITH SINCERITY, SAYS VC

Kubang Kerian, July 25, 2012 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) community are urged to work with sincerity and as a dedication. They were also asked to increase their inner strength and raise the level of integrity.

USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Omar Osman said this in his speech after the breaking of fast at USM Health Campus here.

"As a community of high profile, we should enhance our self-discipline and avoid irresponsible attitude in our work to ensure that members of USM community are a model for others to emulate and respect," said the Vice-Chancellor.

He added that our work performance also needs to be improved and the values of integrity and faith are given priority.

“The University takes a serious view of integrity values especially if there are those who do not carry out the trust until for example, our campus are easily trespassed, university’s assets that go missing, and others that should be examples for all of us to reflect upon, if any of these have occurred,” Omar added.

At the ceremony the Vice-Chancellor presented business financing through the Micro Loan Programme to 13 staff members, certificates and pledges to those who successfully quit smoking as well as donations to orphans.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellors and Directors of Engineering and Health Campuses who broke the fast and performed solat together with about 500 attendees from the Health Campus.
