VC PAYS COURTESY CALL TO MINISTER AT PMD
Kuala Lumpur, July 26, 2012 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Omar Osman made a courtesy call to the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (PMD), Senator Major General Dato' Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (B) and to discuss collaborative research.
At the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor also briefed on the cooperation between USM and several Middle Eastern universities, especially in Saudi Arabia.
"We have just received a visit from the University of Medina and previously had links with the University of Thaibah and several other universities," said Omar.
Jamil Khir welcomed the efforts of USM and requested that the close relation with universities in Saudi Arabia and Egypt be always treated with care to ensure that research efforts are able to run smoothly.
The Vice-Chancellor also gives a brief overview of the research on pilgrims being carried out under the Ministry of Higher Education, particularly in some aspects pertaining to the interests of pilgrims. Also announced is the M-Umrah application which has gained attention and response among mobile tablet users.
