HOLD MORE JOINT ACTIVITIES

PENANG, July 30, 2012 – The community of higher education in the northern region needs to strengthen its collaboration in upholding its responsibility towards society and country.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Prof. Dato' Omar Osman, this is important in establishing a united higher education community to share facilities and expertise and raise the country’s status to the international level.
“With this close cooperation, there is much that we can do together and at the same time make the institutes of higher education competitive and strong,” he said.

He spoke to welcome more than 1,000 people from the higher education community attending the breaking of fast with YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Higher Education here today.
“Each of us is unique with our own way, but the diversity is supposed to make us stronger as 1Malaysia that reflects the relationship, unity in diversity and strength, if combined together would provide value to the nation and the people in general,” said Omar.
Also present at the ceremony were the Chairman of USM Board of Governors, Tan Sri Zulkefli A. Hassan, Deputy Vice-Chancellors from USM, UniMAP and UUM, members of USM LGU, deans, heads of department and student leaders.
