WCMB 2023: Promoting Sustainable Practices to Safeguard the Earth’s Marine Biodiversity
The World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB) 2023, hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), focused on promoting sustainable practices to protect marine biodiversity. This conference gathered global experts, industry leaders, and community stakeholders involving government and NGOs (Penang State Government, International Association for Biological Oceanography (IABO) and Consul-General, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China to discuss innovative solutions and strategies for safeguarding marine ecosystems. The event emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions, industry, and local communities in advancing marine conservation. Through workshops, presentations, and panel discussions, participants shared knowledge on effective practices for preserving marine biodiversity and mitigating environmental impacts. The WCMB 2023 highlighted USM’s role in fostering dialogue and partnerships that drive sustainable marine management, showcasing how interdisciplinary and cross sector collaboration can address pressing environmental challenges and support the preservation of the world’s oceans. The 8th Global Higher Education Forum 2023 (GHEF2023)
Universiti Sains Malaysia has initiated and participated in cross-sectoral dialogue on Equity Recovery -Higher Education In The Post-Pandemic Era in the 8th Global Higher Education Forum 2023 (GHEF2023). The 3 days forum involved multi-stakeholders (such as academics, students, government agencies, policymakers, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and industries) to discuss issues confronting the higher education ecosystem for the equity recovery, as well as to promote discourses and share experiences for finding practical solutions. GHEF2023 is an avenue to consider concepts, experiences, practices, and research findings on diverse issues in higher education from various countries' contexts and perspectives. On the third day of GHEF2023, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Symposium themed "Post-Pandemic: Inclusion of People with Disabilities and Equitable Quality Education in the TVET Ecosystem" is held involving the disabilities. The 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (ICSDG2023)
The ICSDG2023 with the theme Reinforcing SDGs Implementation for a Sustainable Future: Ensuring Inclusivity for All has set its sights on two primary objectives: establishing a robust platform for researchers to exchange information, experiences, initiatives, and best practices pertaining to sustainability within the framework of the SDGs, and fostering stronger collaborative relationships between researchers and organizations to propel the realization of the SDGs.
