Wacana 18: Politik Anak Muda Nusantara
USM PULAU PINANG, 23 Jun 2023 – Highest appreciation and congratulations to the Restu Student Residence Council (MPDR) in collaboration with the School of Social Sciences (PPSK) for successfully organizing a high-impact program. This event took place on 19 June 2023 at the USM Cultural Hall Auditorium, with a total attendance of 300 participants.
The guest of honor for the program’s launch was Associate Professor Dr. Mohamad Shaarudin Samsurijan, Dean of PPSK USM, representing the Vice-Chancellor of USM.
According to Mohamad Shaharudin, the younger generation needs to be given the space to be key drivers of national development, politics, and the economy, as they are often catalysts for change. He believes that this discourse program can open the eyes of young people aged 18 to 30 to become involved in the country’s politics.
Additionally, this program provided a neutral platform and a ‘safe’ space for political stakeholders from various backgrounds to come together and openly discuss challenges. This initiative aims to foster understanding and collaboration among participants with differing viewpoints.
Shaharudin further expressed his hope that all the information and knowledge shared with attendees will serve as guidance for the future.
The program continued with a forum session featuring three panelists: the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli Abd Halim; Rim Melaka State Assembly Member and Deputy Chair of JPP TVET Melaka, Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar; USM PPSK Professor of Political Sociology, Professor Dr. Sivamurugan Pandian; and forum moderator Mohd Firdaus Noh, a student representative and President of the PPSK Political Science Club.
