ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE ENTRY-EXIT ACCESS TO THE UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA CAMPUS THROUGHOUT THE NEXT TWO WEEKS (12-23 OCTOBER 2020)


Following the worrying increase in COVID-19 positive cases, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its community members. Although the country is not placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO), it is IMPERATIVE for the University to take several initiatives to manage the situation on campus, including matters relating to the entry-exit access of students for the next two weeks beginning 12 October 2020.

1. REINTRODUCE THE USE OF SPECIAL FORMS FOR PERMISSION TO ENTER AND EXIT THE CAMPUS

  • All students who are staying on campus with permission, will be allowed to enter and exit the campus PROVIDING THAT:
  • A special permission from the USM Nerve Centre has been obtained using the forms shown below:

  • Use of the forms will be effective from 12 October 2020 until 23 October 2020.

2. CHANGE IN THE OPERATING HOURS OF USM ENTRANCES

  • The USM Security Department has reshuffled the operating hours of the entrances for entry and exit at all USM campuses to restrict the movement of students and staff in order to minimise the risk of an outbreak.
  • Information regarding the operating hours of the entrances at all USM campuses beginning Monday, 12 October 2020 will be as follows:

  • The operating hours will be effective beginning Monday, 12 October 2020 until Saturday, 31 October 2020, and will be subject to developments from time to time.

Throughout the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period, all staff and students are urged to always practice self-regulation including physical distancing, wearing a face mask, frequently washing the hands with soap and water or using a hand sanitizer in addition to taking care of their health as preventive measures against being infected. 

If there are symptoms of COVID-19, the staff or student needs to seek treatment at the nearest medical facility. Early treatment can reduce the risk of the illness from becoming more critical.
