USM Main Campus: It is the 'soul' of USM, is the big brother of all the five campuses. Established as the second university in the country in 1969, it was first known as Universiti Pulau Pinang and in 1971, USM moved from its temporary premises at the Malayan Teachers’ Training College, Bukit Gelugor to the present 416.6 hectare site at Minden, Penang Island. It currently offers various courses, mostly in the Arts and Sciences. The Main Campus has always been regarded as a place to be seen, as the gateway of superb educational experience location.
